It's called "Edamame"...

Steamed soy pods with salt, no fat, except what occurs naturally in soy.

You get it at many many many sushi restaurants.

Really good hot or cold. Great snack, easy to make.

You can buy them frozen now at many supermarkets, or if you're near a
Trader Joes (There's one in Roosevelt Field). Just steam or boil them
and add as much salt as you like. You eat them by popping the pod open
and popping the bean into your mouth.

Here's what Epicurious has to say:

I'm actually having company tonight and Edamame will be on my appetizer
table.

I'll let you know where you can send the million dollar check.

Jennifer

Jen:

I guess the pob gives it some flavor.
the beans i have are dried about 12 pounds of them.
i think i have to rehydrate them like other dried beans.
but i don't know how they will taste.
but i will look into those soy pods.
thanks for the post

Recipe Soy Planks

Preheat oven to 500 degrees F.

Place soy beans in a single layer on an asbestos shingle.

Place in oven for 36 hours.

Remove from oven, discard the soy beans
and eat the shingle. Yummy
