Went for a ride yesterday, ended up in Llano. I decided to try Cooper's,
as I have read where many people rated it the best BBQ in Texas.
I don't think they ate at the same place I did. The brisket looked and
tasted as if if had been boiled, not smoked. The sausage was OK, but
nothing to write home about.
I won't be returning.

We were there a few weeks (OK, maybe a couple of months) ago and I
thought it farily OK. We had very little brisket (I had NONE) - mostly
beef ribs and some chicken. I thought the ribs at Iron Works was much
better (though my friends didn't all agree).
All in all, it was a nice / pretty drive and decent food. I wouldn't
mind going back.

P.S. I didn't pay attention to recall if the smoke flavor was there,
but now tha tyou mention it - it probably was lacking the smoke. Else
I would have remembered. |

Seconded.
Thanks to sw, it's become my BBQ place of preference.
Plus it's easy to get to from IH-35.
