My husband and I want to put together a web page that lists local restaurants that we
have been to and want to try. We'd give details on why we liked or disliked a place,
etc. This is mostly for us, but for friends and family too. I have several family
members that live in North County but frequently need to come south for business, but
when put on the spot, it's hard to remember places that I think would best suit them!
lol Anyway, we're wanting to have a creative name for it, and I was wondering if

This isn't a commercial site, but would be open to anyone who wanted to find a good
place to eat here in San Diego. We've been to *lots* of different places, and love to
try new ones. This would allow us to share our experiences as well as get ideas for
new places we haven't tried. We're always on the look out for something new and
interesting. We found a similar site for places to lunch in L.A. and have gotten some
real gems from there!! My favorites so far have been Apple Pan (a burger joint that's
been there for decades and still serves sodas in the paper cone cups), and Jongawards
Bake & Broil (which has outstanding pot pie and is known for it's red velvet cake).
Anyway, that's what I want to do. Any ideas for names welcome...and if you're a
local, ideas for places to try would be most welcome also!!
Thanks, everyone!

Since it's not a commercial site, it doesn't really need a name.
Put the page up, and a name will come to you.
Along kinda the same line as "Eating San Diego", there's always
"Kimberly Does San Diego".

See if that little Japanese place is still there in downtown La Mesa.
There's a trolley stop just about 1/2 mile or a bit less from it (not the
park and ride down further which would be if memory serves a bit over a
mile). I seem to recall the street that you would take off the highway was
Spring Street then you'd turn left to the main district. It would be on the
left near the end of the 'main street drag'.
Side note: If the antique shop is still there, they had some really nice
stuff.
We lived acrross from the big park-n-ride 1989-1995. |

If you ultimate goal is for general (i.e., not family or friends)
traffic, I wonder if you'll turn up in a search if you use Sandy Eggo.
JAT. (I expect credit on the site for the name. Or a large monetary
honorarium.)

I'm not a local, but whenever we visit the in-laws out there (they live in
Encinitas and Carlsbad), places that are always on our "must visit" list are
Giblin's Irish Pub and St. Germains Cafe. One of our old favorites,
Herschel's Deli, is now closed, unfortunately.
There was/is a European deli/bakery place in N. County we visited once (this
was about eight years ago) that had wonderful food. They also sold lots of
European grocery items. Have no idea what the name was/is.

North San Diego County, CA. Kimberly's website would be for San Diego area
restaurants.

What a bummer about Herschel's...when did it close, do you know? We used to have a
shop in Encinitas and we went to Hershel's often, but it's been a while since then.

From what my FIL told us, back in the summer of '06, the owner closed the
place down for renovations for a week or so. On the day the restaurant was
to reopen, employees and customers arrived and found the doors locked.
Apparently, the owner just took off (had some tax problems?) and never
returned.
