Why I feel sorry for the French:

There's probably not one place from one end of that benighted country they
call "La Belle France" that you can get a decent corn dog.

Yet Louisiana is COVERED with'em.

Go figure.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and
degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing
is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is
willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal
safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless
made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Ah... What is a corn dog ?

BTW, we call our country just "France" (and it's sometimes referred to
as "l'Hexagone" in media talk because of its shape on a map), but
you're the ones who call it "La Belle France". And be welcome to it,
anytime.

That's exactly it. While the general opinion of US Americans here is
that they're none too bright in general, or none too cultured at least,
they are considered to be extremely friendly and, for those who live
here, extremely hospitable and are excellent customers. It is US policy
thjat most people disdain, not the average Joe.

Pissing yourself over another country's military might is a fine French
tradition!

But the point remains, 99% of Americans really don't care what
Europeans think about..well...pretty much anything. The idea that you
think we do is kind of funny.
