I visted the website.
Seems they're no longer offering low sodium solid white low sodium tuna! Only
chunk white. The BUMS!!!
Trader Jones does. 45mg sodium per 2 oz. serving. I just hope it's not a
product of China.
I don't have dentures, yet. Chunk isn't yet required.

Many salt substitutes are mostly potassium chloride, and are therefore
a cheaper way to get a potassium supplement if your insurance doesn't
cover it. I prefer the taste of the ones from McCormick, Kroger and
Schilling. |

Is that so???
I drove myself to hospital diagnosed with pancreatitus. For a week I was
fed IV'd sodium chloride bags and a daily bag dose of potassium chloride.
I left walking out almost on my knees thanks to a neuropathy that they
failed to correctly diagnose. It's been a permanent foot affliction ever
since.

When I had the adrenal tumor..and before they knew it was a tumor I was on
5-6 K-Dur's a day. I was running low one day and asked a pharmacist what I
could get over the counter to replace it until I could get to my DR...he
said you can't...it would be hard to get the dosage and the amount of
potassium that of K-Dur gave me.

Julie,
I didn't think I would either, the first time I had it we had gone to a
restaurant and they didn't have much on the menu that didn't have allot of
carbs...so I ordered the Tuna salad hoping I would be able to pick the nuts
out, if I didn't like them...I was really surprised that I did...Like we
tell our Grandson...you don't know you won't like it unless you try it:)

I like walnuts in chicken salad. Don't think I'd like it in tuna. Am
allergic to almonds. |

I didn't get cramps..I got heart palpitations...some days I had to take one
or two more...after I had a blood test in the morning and the Dr would call
when he got the results back in the afternoon and ask if I was having any
heart pain...because my potassium was 2.2 I would say no and he would say
take a couple more pills and come in tomorrow for another test, and if you
have any chest pain go to the emergency room....I am so glad I don't have
that problem anymore:)

That's true, and you couldn't get it time released. K Dur 20 meq is
equivalent to 750mg of potassium over 12 hours. At times, I've needed 4
per day, but now if I take plenty of cal/mag, I can usually get by on
one or two per day, unless my hormones cycle high.
Still, in a pinch, it's very easy to get relief by licking NuSalt out of
my hand or mixing it in water, and the cramp is gone within a minute
that way, all dissolved.

Wendy that is a GREAT idea! I am sure that a lot of the sodium would rinse
off!

When I was put on a lowsodium diet, some 20 years ago. The dietician told
me to not bother with getting either no salt tuna or canned vegetables, bu
tjust to rince the fods very well. I would put the tuna in a strainer adn
let the wter run rhough it for a little whie and then let it drain.
cheaper adn better tasting than th eno salt added ones.
